Project Overview
Gold Compass is an organisation that uses historical black figures to educate and inspire young girls and boys. This project was not only fun but gave me a feeling of pride knowing that I was planting a seed for future generations.
My Approach
I was initially contacted to design a logo for the organisation, however, I believe a logo is only as strong as the brand behind it. As with every project, I started off by running a series of workshops surrounding the potential of Gold Compass. I then explored the target audience, brand persona, vision, amongst many other things. All the information compiled directly affected the creative direction.
Although the target audience is primarily African and Caribbean children, I was intentional about not going too far with the design. This meant incorporating some structure to it. I provided my client with a vibrant logo and graphic elements to match. I also created brand guidelines for fonts and colour variations.
